MRC de La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau
The Municipalité Régionale de Comté (MRC) is a regional administrative body in Quebec that brings together multiple municipalities to coordinate regional planning, land management, and economic development. There are 87 legally established MRCs in Quebec, and they also administer unorganized territories within their boundaries, including Pythonga.

ZEC Pontiac
Club Lac Pythonga lies within the ZEC Pontiac, a Zone d’Exploitation Contrôlée(Controlled Harvesting Zone) located in western Quebec at the boundary of the Pontiac and Vallée-de-la-Gatineau regional county municipalities (MRCs). Covering approximately 1,205 km² and over 350 bodies of water, the ZEC provides a vast public territory dedicated to hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation.
The Ministry of the Environment, the Fight Against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks (MELCCFP) has entrusted ZEC Pontiac with the responsibility for planning, organizing, and managing the conservation and sustainable use of wildlife resources within its territory.
Key functions of ZEC Pontiac include:
Wildlife Management — Regulating and monitoring hunting and fishing activities to ensure sustainable use of wildlife resources.
Territory Administration — Managing access to the public territory and maintaining infrastructure such as entry gates and facilities.
Conservation and Stewardship — Supporting environmental protection and responsible land use within the ZEC.
Outdoor Recreation — Providing opportunities for hunting, fishing, and other nature-based activities.
